Amazing Work by someone you would not Expect

Marilyn Manson...????

I am absolutely in love with his water color paintings.  His work is similar to mine in that he distorts the human form and has a subject matter of self loathing.  He also explores the subject of death, particularly in   the second work below that is influence by the famous "Black Dahlia"  I have picked up water color recently, but I find that I express my self better with micron and in black and white only.  Manson explores color more so than I, but he has influenced  me enough to go out and buy a water color set. Here are two works by Manson.

What is Body Dysmorphic Disorder?

is a type of mental illness, a somatoform disorder, wherein the affected person is exclusively concerned with body image, manifested as excessive concern about and preoccupation with a perceived defect of their physical features.^[1][2] The person complains of a defect in either one feature or several features of their body; or vaguely complains about their general appearance, which causes psychological distress that impairs either occupational or social functioning, or both. Occasionally, BDD occurs to the degree of causing severe emotional depression and anxiety, and the possible development of other anxiety disorders, social withdrawal, orsocial isolation.^[3]

This description of body dysmorphic disorder is what you would find if you are just poking around the internet, but I think it does a very poor job of describing the emotions of the person effected by the disease.  I personally have this disease, and my emotions are a driving force in my art.  It want to show the world through my work what it means to be in a body dysmorphic mind.

New Idol Drawing

Here is a new Idol Drawing that I have named Death Becomes her.  This drawing was done with micron pen on bristol paper and is 14in x 17in.  To me, this drawing represents what America see as beauty. Skinny frail women who are killing themselves with starvation is what we all aspire to be... right?

I always use micron pens in my drawings because I love the sharp lines they create.  I used them in every drawing in my Body Dysmorphic series.

Tim Burton equals my hero.

He was an odd boy who read Poe instead of fairytales...  His art work is amazing and creative with a subject matter that focuses on monsters and dysmorphia. Check out his interactive web gallery.

Also, please check out the video below. It is his first animated short that he made while still working at Disney.  The film is called Vincent Price. It is a depiction of Burton when he was a boy and how he felt "different" than the other children.
